Dialogue’s Renegade Books has signed Jasmine Elmer’s Slay: Ancient Legends of Female Slayers and the Hidden Mythology of Dragons. Jasmine Elmer is a TV presenter and ancient world expert. Slay will be Elmer’s second book. Her first, Goddess with a Thousand Faces, was published by Renegade in 2024.

Publisher Christina Demosthenous acquired world rights and audio from Hannah Ferguson. Slay will be published in hardback in Spring 2026.

Slay is a distinctive and revelatory exploration of dragons in mythology and legend, and the fierce women who slayed them […] Jasmine Elmer shifts the spotlight to the daring and victorious female dragon slayers that have been written out of history. Combining historical research with mythological retelling, Slay is a celebration of the dragon – and the woman that conquered the monsters – that has never been done before.”

Demosthenous said: “Fiercely feminist and subversive, Jasmine blends beautiful, evocative writing with expert historical research that she always lands with a punch. You’ve never seen dragons like this!”

Elmer added: “I’m beyond excited to bring the world of female dragon slayers to a wider audience. These women have often been relegated to the sidelines by their male heroic counterparts – it is an honour to restore them to their own power.”

Ferguson said: “Jasmine’s exploration of feminine power is inspired. As she continues to centre women as the heroines of their own stories, her straight talking narrative once again connects the ancient world with its timeless wisdom to modern issues that we face today to create a truly empowering and informative read.”
