Synopsis
The Affable Anna Harris is inspired by Patricia Highsmith’s classic novel, The Talented Mr Ripley. Fans of Elizabeth Day and of the wit and darkness of Bella Mackie’s How to Kill Your Family will relish Anna’s acute mind and mordant humour.
Anna Harris is lying dormant in the depths of the English countryside when charismatic Sofia bowls into the village and pokes Anna awake.
Poor Sofia. She would have had a happier ending if she had left well alone.
The reawakened Anna, bored by her relationship with dependable Ben and suffocated by his close-knit family, encounters the very charming Mark and, on impulse, borrows Sofia’s identity to start an affair. Increasingly Mark feels like the solution to her perpetual dissatisfaction. What a shame, he, too, has something to hide.
As Anna and Mark uncover each other’s secrets, the stakes get higher and the fallout more deadly. But who will come out on top?
