SR Masters, author of the compelling psychological thriller The Killer You Know, has joined up with thirteen other crime writers to create a short story anthology to raise money for Samaritans, following the coronavirus crisis. The collection, entitled Afraid of the Light will have a foreword written by Alex North, author of The Whisper Man and will features stories written by Phoebe Morgan, Dominic Nolan and Clare Empson, amongst others. Victoria Selman, author of Blood for Blood coordinated the anthology. She said, ‘there has never been a better time to raise money for an organisation like Samaritans which offers a lifeline of human connection to those in need.’ Afraid of the Light is set to be released in ebook on April 28th 2020.

Samaritans is a mental health charity offering support to those who are struggling to cope, and have over 20,000 volunteers. All author payments and proceeds from the anthology will go to the charity.

S. R. Masters studied Philosophy at Girton College, Cambridge before working in public health and health behaviour for the NHS. He is a regular contributor to UK short fiction anthology series The Fiction Desk, having won their Writer’s Award for his short story Just Kids. His story Desert Walk was included in Penguin Random House USA’s Press Start to Play collection and he continues to have short fiction published in a variety of magazines. He grew up around Birmingham but now lives in Oxford with his wife and son. The Killer You Know is his first novel.
